My Goal for the Blog

Ok...well I'm not going to "homeschool" for kindergarden and up but I also don't think "pre-school" is something we need. So... I am preparing my child for kindergarden at home. I call it home pre-school (creative I know).

I would like to help other moms doing the same and hopefully create a "village" of moms who are doing this so we can all help each other and create outings etc... Now my kids are 2 1/2 and 4 so I am trying to make my activies range for those ages - there will be different options availble on most days :). Example Kyler is still working on 2 where as Kaden is working on 20 so "2 day" works on both. There will be easy pages and harder worksheets.

I will post our monthly themes, any pre-kindergarden info that I find. I do only 3 days of themes a week. I like to leave days open for grocery shopping etc... I would love any and all reponses that anybody cares to share.

***Update*** I have stopped posting the everyday lessons, just becuase that's a lot of time. But the themes are listed below in the monthly calendar. If you want more info on a specific day or theme just let me know, I would be happy to share :)

Feb 4th #2 Day (#20 or #22)

Well today is my youngest son's birthday.... he turns 2. Happy Birthday Kyler!

Here is the pre-school stuff for all those not turning two today.

Theme
#2 or #20 or #22 for the older ones

Fine Motor Skills
Write your number or word
you can type in your own number, letter, or word to practice!

Gross Motor Skills
1 versus 2
jump on 1 foot versus 2 feet (hopscotch)
1 hand  versus 2 - hands (clap games)

Verbal
N/A this time around

Craft
Hand or feet prints (the come in twos) with finger paint or trace them.
Perhaps on scrapbook paper to keep forever in their scrapbook?

Here is a poem to put with your prints....

"Sometimes I might upset you just because I'm small.
By leaving fingerprints of me on a table, chair or wall.

But everyday I grow a bit and I'll be big one day.
When all my tiny fingerprints have long been cleaned away.

So keep these prints of my two hands to help you to recall.
Just how big my fingers were that time when I was small."

Other activities.... (critical thinking, books, songs, etc...)
games - Find things that come in 2's (socks, shoes, holes for legs in pants [underwear if potty training], gloves, earrings, pig-tails)
Can you find 2 things the same in your house? (pillows, candles, etc).
books - 1 fish 2 fish, red fish, blue fish by Dr. Seuss.
songs - Little Bunny  Foo-Foo - use your 2 fingers to make the bunny ears....
