My Goal for the Blog

Ok...well I'm not going to "homeschool" for kindergarden and up but I also don't think "pre-school" is something we need. So... I am preparing my child for kindergarden at home. I call it home pre-school (creative I know).

I would like to help other moms doing the same and hopefully create a "village" of moms who are doing this so we can all help each other and create outings etc... Now my kids are 2 1/2 and 4 so I am trying to make my activies range for those ages - there will be different options availble on most days :). Example Kyler is still working on 2 where as Kaden is working on 20 so "2 day" works on both. There will be easy pages and harder worksheets.

I will post our monthly themes, any pre-kindergarden info that I find. I do only 3 days of themes a week. I like to leave days open for grocery shopping etc... I would love any and all reponses that anybody cares to share.

***Update*** I have stopped posting the everyday lessons, just becuase that's a lot of time. But the themes are listed below in the monthly calendar. If you want more info on a specific day or theme just let me know, I would be happy to share :)

The Sun is a Fiery Ball of Gas To help the students develop understanding of the concept that the sun is a ball of fiery gases, not solid like the earth, use streamers or strips of paper in red, yellow, white and orange. Give each child one streamer. The children are positioned in concentric circles of colors. The center is white (hottest part of sun), then yellow, then orange and last red. put on spacey type music and have children "boil and bubble" around in their circles. The circles can spin in different directions. Periodically say "solar flare" at which time the red streamers burst off the circle and then return to their place. (Solar flares are giant bursts of gas exploding off the surface of the sun.) To end, have children slowly "run out of gas" and sit on the floor as you turn down music.

Sun Prints Just an hour in the sun at noon will fade construction paper to leave behind decorative "prints".
You need: A Sunny Day, Construction Paper (Darker Colors will Work the Best)
Objects from Nature or Objects from Around the House (Flatter items Work Best)
Instructions:
Lay construction paper outside in the sun. Arrange items on the paper so their silhouettes will look nice. Wait about an hour and remove the items. You will see the paper has faded around the objects.
